Marcia Peak
With over 15 Years of experience in Special education, I am the founder of Focus on the Gap Educational Services. My passion lies in working with children and empowering others.
I have taught at various levels, including Preschool, Primary, Secondary, and Young Adults. Served as the Vice Principal at a Private High School, I also contribute to the growth of educators through Professional Development Sessions. Alongside my practical experience, I hold a Master of Science in Education and a Ph.D. in Education Policy Leadership and Management.
Our Story
Focus on The Gap Educational Services is a family-owned enterprise that was founded by co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Marcia Peak. During the pandemic of 2021, an inspirational message entered her heart whilst reading for her Ph.D. in Education Policy Leadership and Management from Walden University (USA). In designing a solution for a family friend, Marcia received a word in her heart that this was her purpose and calling. With the support of her family members, her Master's Degree in Education, and over fifteen (15) years of experience in education, Focus on The Gap was born!
Marcia attended the Shortwood Teachers College between 2003-2006, where she majored in Early Childhood Education, and during that time she went on an exchange programme in Canada where she gained experience from a model institution in early childhood education. When Marcia returned to Jamaica, she pursued a teaching career at the Genesis Academy, in the capacity of the master teacher teaching across the board from grades 1 to 9. During this time Marcia took on a vast amount of leadership roles, such as school management, and head of departments, and even played the role of Vice-Principal between 2009-2021. Marcia's achievements include studies in theology, business, early childhood, and special education.

- Awarded Outstanding Contribution Award from a Special Education Private High School (2021)
- Awarded for the Invaluable Contribution as Vice Principal and Academician (2020)
- Awarded Teacher of the Year for the period 2007-2010 (4 years).
- Nominee for International Excellence Awards for Teachers in Early Childhood Education Heritage Foundation 2008.
Marcia's training, skills, and experiences have transformed her into the CEO of Focus on the Gap Educational Services. A business with a vision to equip individuals with skills to bridge learning gaps in the global community and a mission to help persons to realize their full potential so that they can contribute to the global community through a programme that facilitates learning in a safe, caring, and pleasurable virtual environment.

Founded by Ph.D. Candidate Marcia Peak, Focus on the Gap is a family-owned educational institution that owns and operates an e-Learning platform that is used to facilitate learning in the public, private, and homeschool environments. This Platform is designed to fill the learning gaps at various learning levels and is initially available to all English-speaking pupils.

The solution is unique because it leverages its opportunity to directly deliver upon The Reform Report (page 10), which laments the inadequacy of resources applied to persons with learning disabilities. Additionally, page 58's Recommendation-IT18, encourages Jamaica to deploy technology in the cloud or virtualized environments to save costs of system deployment. Both these recommendations demonstrate the commercial and technical investment for The Focus on the Gap.
Purpose
According to the Jamaica Education Transformation Commission's The Reform of Education in Jamaica, 2022 (The Reform Report), there is a general agreement that the key to overcoming the twin challenges of economic and social instability is the development of a well-functioning system of education. Focus on the Gap contributes by providing a solution to the "learning crisis" described in The Reform Report. There is a commercial opportunity to support the existing pool of public and private educators and education service providers, which currently face an "administrative crisis of organizational and strategic incoherence, redundancy and unaccountability, leading to chronic inefficiency; and it is in the midst of the crisis brought on by the COVID 19 pandemic." This is not expected to be solved in the near term and the Focus on the Gap has a distinct opportunity to leverage the professional experience and knowledge of its founders and team members.

Pupils of all ages who learn and or process information differently will finally find a pragmatic and appropriate solution to fulfill their potential. Governments will be better able to meet their economic and social development mandates with the support of this Learning Experience Platform (LXP).
